Less Stress - How to deal with Stress

Normal Life Can Be The Cause of Numerous Stressful Situations

Stress is caused by any number of daily situations. It is also caused by sudden, unexpected or traumatic events that turn our lives upside down. Many people do not realize that stress can also be caused by environmental situations such as bright lights, excessive pollution and even the neighborhood you life in.

Some of the major categories of stressors include natural life events, daily responsibilities, illnesses to you or a loved one, employment, personal relationships, lifestyle, environment and even your socio-economic standing. Of course, these are things that most of us can never ignore or avoid. How each person deals with these issues is what ultimately determines the overall physical and emotional impact that stress has on your health.

Natural life events are things such as birth, death, marriage, divorce and the milestones reached in between. The birth of a child is usually a happy event. However, if the birth of that child is unexpected, unwanted, or you find that the child has a medical problem (such as downs syndrome for example), the normal happy stressors that already come with the birth of a child can suddenly become overwhelming. Even without any negatives associated with the birth of a child, other stress related situations occur. Suddenly you find yourself worried about the financial aspect of purchasing everything an infant needs, raising the child, eventual day-care expenses and the self doubt that creeps into your own mind regarding your abilities to properly care for another human life. WOW, that is a lot of issues surrounding a happy event.

The responsibilities issue is one that everyone faces with or without a pending birth, death, marriage or divorce. Making rent or mortgage payments, ensuring there is enough money for the utilities, groceries, car and insurance payments, etc. A lack of money or lack of enough money to make ends meet creates an enormous amount of stress in a person’s daily life. One cannot concentrate on positive anythings at all if you cannot be assured that the daily necessities of life are going to be met for yourself and your family.

Your employment situation adds a whole new dimension stress. It directly impacts your lifestyle, personal relationships, the environment you live in and your socio-economic standing. Some jobs are temporary, leaving you wondering what you are going to do when it ends. Other jobs may be permanent in nature but cause stress because of the duties, relationships with other co-workers, the hours you work or whether or not overtime is available or required.

These issues do not even begin to cover things such as your health and the impact an unexpected illness to your or your loved ones may cause. What is worse is that all of these daily stressors that you face every day may actually be what is causing those near constant headaches, your inability to sleep, the depressive or anxiety ridden shifts in your moods or the conflict you feel inside because of trying to juggle everything in your daily schedule.

Now that you know that nearly everything in your daily, normal life can be the cause of the stress you are experiencing, learning what ramifications it can have on your health and how to deal with those stressors in a positive manner is imperative to keep you healthy.
